Westman RCMP service report, April 7 – April 13

During this week Westman RCMP received a total of 81 calls for service. Of the 81, 24 were traffic related including 12 moving traffic – speeding violations, seven suspicious person/vehicle/property files, six failures to comply with an order and three uttering threats files.

On April 11 RCMP were called to a disturbance in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, resulting in an individual being arrested and charged with uttering threats against a person. The individual will appear in court in June.

On April 13 during a routine traffic patrol in Elkhorn, RCMP observed a vehicle with ammunition on the dashboard and a gun in the passenger seat. Police conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle, the driver was arrested and will appear in court in June for two charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon and possession of firearm/weapon/device/ ammunition in motor vehicle.

During a routine traffic patrol in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth, RCMP observed a vehicle speeding travelling at 153km/hr in a 110km/hr zone. Police conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver was issued a traffic offence notice which carries a fine of $613.

During another traffic patrol in the RM Wallace-Woodworth, RCMP observed a vehicle speeding travelling at 163km/hr in a 110km/hr zone. Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was issued a traffic offence notice which carries a fine of $744. An MPI serious offence notice was also issued.
