Just a few of the hundreds of students who attended the Career and Business Expo last Wednesday in Virden.

Fort la Bosse School Division hosted a Career and Business Expo at Virden Collegiate on Wednesday, May 16.

About 500 Gr. 8-12 students from Reston, Kola, Elkhorn, Oak Lake and Virden attended the event.  There were 30 exhibitors from various local businesses and educational institutions.

Each student had a passport activity which gave them various questions to ask at booths of their choice. This was a valuable experience for the students that encouraged them to engage with the vendors at the event.

The exhibitors were available to speak one-on-one with students about their careers, what education/training they needed, what they do in a typical day and to offer advice to students considering a job in their field.

Providing this career guidance helps students make a connection between what they are doing in school and the real world, and it helps them with their course selection and career planning.
