Doyle Piwniuk, MLA for Arthur Virden, announced Aug. 24, that the Manitoba Government is investing in important new water and wastewater upgrades in the Arthur Virden constituency. MLA Piwniuk was joined by Mayor Jeff McConnell to make the announcement at the Town of Virden Office.

“Our Progressive Conservative government continues to make these important investments in local infrastructure that ensures Manitobans have access to modern, reliable water and wastewater services,” said MLA Piwniuk. “Projects like these are important to our communities. Together with our municipal partners, we will continue working to identify and invest in Manitoba’s water and wastewater infrastructure.”

Through the Manitoba Water Services Board, the Manitoba Government will be providing $1,000,000.00 for the New Forcemain and Lift Station to the Town of Virden.

“Clean, safe drinking water is essential to public health, and expanding water and wastewater treatment capacity is necessary for our communities to grow and prosper,” said Chris Goertzen, president, Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM). “The AMM appreciates the Province of Manitoba’s partnership on the Manitoba Water Services Board, as it is only through cost-sharing that these projects can move forward.”

The investments in Arthur Virden are part of a new, five-year MWSB capital funding plan that will invest a total of $33,650,000 in water and wastewater infrastructure across Manitoba.
