Last Thursday, April 12, hundreds of people braved the cold spring breeze to support the Humboldt Broncos hockey team by having lunch at Virden Collegiate.
Students, staff and Oil Caps players put on a fundraising barbecue in honour of the Broncos.
Later, after all had been served and the money counted, Principal Mark Keown said over $10,000 had been raised. The school extended thanks to all businesses and individuals who donated equipment and supplies to the event.
