Staff from the Virden Empire-Advance were recognized for their work at the annual convention of the Manitoba Community Newspaper Association (MCNA) last weekend in Winnipeg.
Sister publications The Souris Plaindealer, Crossroads This Week, and Deloraine Times and Star also received awards for their work in a range of categories.
The convention and awards banquet were held at the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg. Representing Glacier Media, which owns the papers, the publisher of the Prairie Newspaper Group (PNG) Nancy Johnson was on hand as a presenter and to accept the awards for staff who couldn’t be there.
She said, “It was a privilege for me to be present at the MCNA Better Newspaper Convention Awards and witness the many awards our PNG publications received for the important work we all do in our communities.”
