Virden Health Auxiliary

Dedicated volunteers, May 2018
Health aux

The year is winding down for the Health Auxiliary, and once again, it has been a busy one for this group of dedicated volunteers.

Our annual Christmas tea was well attended, as was our recent spring luncheon. We really enjoy being able to provide these social events and are very pleased that so many come out to join us. Your support of these events helps us to continue to do the work of which we are so proud. Still to come, before our summer break, is the West-Man birthday party where we enjoy serving cake and ice cream to the residents; and during the summer, we have our second opportunity to deliver meals-on-wheels, the first having been in February.

With the help of generous donations from our community, we were very pleased to be able to support the new SAIL kitchen at the Princess Lodge and know that it will be well used by our community members. Looking back over reports of equipment and furnishings we have been able to provide over the years, I was curious to know the extent of our financial support to the hospital, EMS, West-Man and The Sherwood Home. I was astonished and proud to see that since 2009, our little group of women has been able to assist in the purchase of more than $250,000 in much needed items for the facilities we support.

There is nothing like a rural prairie town, and ours is very fortunate to have so many caring, generous people who recognize the importance of an organization such as our health auxiliary. We thank you all for continuing to look out for those in our community who need your help.
