Corner Gas returns as a cartoon series

So what did viewers really see recently during the Super Bowl on CTV? If it looked like an animated version of the former number one sitcom in Canada for six years from 2003 to 2009, you are correct.

So what did viewers really see recently during the Super Bowl on CTV? If it looked like an animated version of the former number one sitcom in Canada for six years from 2003 to 2009, you are correct.

Yes Corner Gas is back! For a different kind of fantasy, viewers can see a reboot of their favourite gang of characters. So where else might you find a Mad Max spoof, a fight between a unicorn and a sasquatch, and pirates at sea fighting with light sabers? You are right again!

According to creator and star Brent Butt, the series will fit what people expect of Corner Gas but just a bit more wiggle room to go farther now.

“We would not likely have been able to do that in the real world, especially as graphically violent as we did in the animated world,” deadpanned the comedian referring to some of the scenes viewers will see in the new show.

It also provides a chance to see the old signature gas pumps in the fictional community of Dog River, Saskatchewan.

The show will be set in contemporary times and will feel in many ways like the live-action show. Even if the show can take on any topic, Butt explained it will stay fairly clean as most adult prime-time animated shows. He added the show will also be representative of the open and bright Saskatchewan sky. Viewers can watch the premiere episode Monday, April 2 on the Comedy Network.
