We are pleased to welcome Shirley Lansing who has made her home here at the Lodge recently.
The Virden Oil Caps distributed Valentine cookies to the Lodge last weekend for the seniors to enjoy.
Tuesday evening, Feb. 18, we enjoyed the inspiring a cappella voices of the Sinclair Choir.
Art and Debbie and Sylvia entertained last Wednesday, Feb. 19 with their down-home country music.
Tim, Heather and family from Rocanville visited with the Grahams over the weekend.

I am grateful that colds don’t last forever. There are still some at Evergreen down with colds. I wish them a speedy recovery.
The weather has given us a break from the cold temperatures, but, winter is not over yet. Keep the snow boots, toques and jackets handy.
We are given an extra day this month, because 2020 is a Leap Year. This day, Feb. 29 is called “leap day”. Leap years were created by Julius Caesar in 45 BC to adjust the annual calendar. The standard calendar has 365 days, while Earth has 365 days, five hours and 48 minutes to circle around the sun. To compensate this difference and with losing these five hours, 48 minutes each year, a leap day is added every four years.
We want to thank the young men, the Virden Oil Capitals, for the Valentines they brought to us. The cookies were lovely to look at and very tasty.
Royal Purple ladies, we appreciated the great supper you put on: the pork roast, potatoes with gravy, peas and cabbage salad were so good. Not to mention the generous serving of strawberry shortcake dessert.
Carol Gabrielle was visited last weekend by her daughter, Michelle of Winnipeg, with her dog, a shar pei named Ella.
Mike Campbell was away to Winnipeg on Feb. 18 for a doctor appointment.
Art Rouse’s son Steve, from Edmonton, Alta. visited Art and Louise for two days.
Corky and Friends did a wonderful job entertaining us at our February Birthday Party. Though Chris Leech was the only resident celebrating a birthday, we all enjoyed the comedy and music.
We had an informative meeting with Fire Chief Brad Yochim on Feb. 17. He brought out things that some of us had not known. How and where to vacate the building in case of fire was the most important. Brad answered questions that residents asked, such as: Why should we walk to the Sherwood when the fire alarm goes off? What happens if someone is in the elevator? What do you do when you’re stuck in your suite? etc.

Miniota By Bev Peel
On the weekend of Feb. 14 - 15 the Miniota rink was again busy with Minor Hockey with ages from 6U to 14U.
Elkhorn 12U vs Rocanville played Friday night, with Baker Bryant, Aiden Lewis and Maddox Couvier from Miniota in the lineup.
Saturday, Miniota 8U vs Elkhorn, followed by the 6U vs Birtle. Then the Miniota 10U vs Brandon followed by Elkhorn 14U with Miniota players Dylan Couvier, Foster Couvier, Jaxon Lelond, Ty McKenzie and Clayton Judd playing Souris.
Saturday was also busy with the 4H Curling Clubs.
Friday, Feb. 14, Margo and Michelle had a Chinese smorg supper at the Hotel which many people enjoyed.
Sympathy from the Miniota Community to Wade Browning (Jennifer Copet) and grandson Dominic Browning on the passing of his Mother Deanna Rowan on Feb. 16 and to all extended family and friends.
Congratulations from the Miniota Community to Larry and Janet Walker who celebrated their 60th Anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 16 with a tea at the Miniota Hall. All their family were there to help them celebrate "Cheers to 60 Years". The afternoon was spent with a slide show and stories of their life together enjoyed by extended families and friends. The tables were decorated with tea cups they had received for shower and wedding gifts plus many cards that had been received as well - 60 years ago! Cake and coffee were served by grandchildren and some great grandchildren.
The monthly Birthday Party was held at the Miniota Drop In on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. with 18 people enjoying the contest, guessing songs that Lynne Cornish played on the piano with the word/words love in them. Then a sing-song was also enjoyed, led by Trudy Watters, cake and coffee followed. The Birthday people were: Mary Hurlin, Wendy Lelond and Ruby Weber from Hamiota with Sharon Armitage as her chauffeur. Eight others had been phoned, who also had February Birthdays. Murray Peel attended after the meeting at the lodge. Faye Campbell has returned from a two-week holiday at Osoyoos, B.C.. She and four others attended another art class on Feb. 21.
On the sudden passing of Marg Leary on Feb. 21, sincere sympathy from the community goes out to her daughter Wendy and Larry Price of Calgary, Alta. and their family, Candice and Scott. Sympathy also to Marg's siblings, Donald, Edith, Grace, Eleanor and Glen Cameron and extended families and to the Leary family and friends.
