Elkhorn’s Kendra Kay has been nominated for three awards by the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA) for 2018.

Kay said she feels honoured and “super grateful” for the recognition.

The singer is nominated for: Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year (for the song “Buy You a Drink”), and Fans’ Choice.

Kay is competing with five other Manitoba acts in Fans’ Choice: Leanne Pearson, Past The Perimeter, Petric, Quinton Blair and Ryan Keown.

Big Year

Kay told the Empire-Advance that winning in any category would be a huge accomplishment, capping off an already memorable 2018.

“This past year, especially, I have been very fortunate to have some amazing opportunities, like playing the Banjo Bowl Halftime Show, recording in studio with Terri Clark, and releasing a new CD,” (which she celebrated with a concert in Elkhorn this summer.)

“To get the recognition in any category would really mean the world and show that all this hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed.”

Fans’ choice

Only members of the MCMA can vote in most of the award categories except for Fans Choice where members of the public can vote online for their favorites.

Kay was nominated by the MCMA in 2016 and ‘17 but so far hasn’t won.

She’s urging her fans to go to the MCMA website and vote for her before the closing date of Sept. 28.

The awards ceremony will take place Nov. 10 in Winnipeg.
