Performers from Virden Collegiate are getting ready to take to the AUD stage on Feb. 15 to showcase their performance skills.

We are calling this a “sweet” concert as audiences might want to take their sweetheart to this entertaining event and the music will indeed be sweet.

The entire Virden Collegiate Choir, 42 members strong, will perform a variety of songs including a costumed Aladdin Medley with choreography by Shelby Cranston.

VCI’s Sound Investment will perform “Sing” from the movie of the same name, a classic Rodgers and Hart ballad, “Jolene” as recorded by the Pentatonix and Dolly Parton, and the gospel, “Operator”. Later they will appear in the show with a delightful choreographed medley of swing music called “Steppin Out”.

We are thrilled to have some very special guests in attendance that night. Brett Chrest, a multi-talented performer from Brandon with skills as a dancer and circus performer, will wow the crowd. Two young performers from the Youth Choir’s upcoming “High School Musical” will give us a selection and Brandon’s adult choir Konektis is bringing some powerful music to Virden audiences.

For those of you who don’t know of Konektis, this choir features performers from our town: JaysaLee Davies, Airdrie Poole, Todd Plaisier, Darrell Corbel, Brady Chyzyk, Lesley Taggart (Towler), Susan Martens, and Enya Rae Wilson, and is conducted by Michelle Chyzyk of Virden with Justine Burke (Gould) at the piano.

The evening will also include solo performances by outstanding VCI students Shelby Cranston, Emily Morissette, Kennedy Charles, Christine Reyes, and Laurel Eslinger.

The finale brings music from this season’s hit movie, “The Greatest Showman.” We hope you will consider attending and enjoying some entertainment from 80 fantastic performers.

The Feb. 15 concert begins at 7:30 pm and the doors will open at 7:00. All seating is rush and admission is $10 at the door, $5 for 12 and under.
