Monday morning March 9, the Reston School Gym was filled with 20 teams of Grade 5 and 6 students from Elkhorn, Virden, Oak Lake, Kola and Reston.
They were gathered to compete in the sixth annual Fort La Bosse Battle of the Books.
After regulation play of 100 questions there was a tie for third place therefore all teams participated in three tie breaker questions. Finally the winners were
announced and the 2015 Battle was for the first time an all girl sweep for the medallions.
The Reston Team of Kirsten Isaac, Brookelynn Rowand, Hailie McLean and Jessica Kristof placed first. Georgia Abel, Hayley Kirkup, Anisha Anderson and Kayla Bryant of
Virden were in second with Hannah Peters, Carman Hutchison, Danielle Chapman and Esther Pringle also from Virden in third.
Only six points separated the top five teams, well done everyone!
Congratulations to all 78 competitors on reading the required number of books to participate and thank-you to the parents who came out to cheer on the students and support them in this
unique activity.
