January birthdays at Evergreen Place: (l-r) Vern Rollo, Tom Tyhy and Don Lowes are backed by the Country Travellers.

Evergreen Place By Helen Martens

We had a week of cold weather since our last news report. Naturally most everyone stays home more during these days. It was a good time for more visiting and games in the Common Room.

Our condolences go out to Irene Rowand and her daughter Donna, at the passing of Donna’s husband Don Isleifson.

We lost another resident on Jan. 15. Myrna Vodon passed away unexpectedly. Our sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

On Jan. 21, the Royal Purple ladies did it again. They served us a delicious chicken dinner with all the trimmings. We were pleased to see about a dozen ladies from Princess Lodge join us for the meal.

After this meal the Sinclair choir entertained us with a Gospel concert.

Phyllis Gompf and son Barry of Oak Lake attended Cecil and Mavis Allum’s 60th wedding anniversary tea on Jan. 18 in the Elkhorn Leisure Centre.

Janine Ketterer, Sherald Joynt’s granddaughter from Germany, is visiting with her.

On Jan. 26, Helen Martens attended a birthday celebration at the Red Barn in Moosomin for her granddaughter Michelle Nykoliation of Elkhorn.

Entertainment by Country Travellers, Art Maxwell and Debra Naylor, was greatly enjoyed by the residents. They came in honour of the three January birthdays - Vern Rollo, Tom Tyhy and Don Lowes.

Quote for the day:

“The most beautiful things in life are not things. They are people and places, memories and pictures. They are feelings and moments, smiles and laughter.”

Miniota by Bev Peel

Ron and Vickie Bryant traveled to Morris, Sask. on Monday, Jan. 20 to visit with Susan and Bobby Selke. They also met their new great-granddaughter, Kenzie Kimberly, daughter of Cody and Jill Selke. The Bryants also enjoyed their great-grandson, Casedy's second birthday, coming home on Jan. 24.

Saturday, the Bryants took in an 8U hockey game at Birtle.

Parent's, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles were again busy at the Miniota rink watching the 6U hockey game against St. Lazare which is made up from three towns.
