Miniota By Bev Peel

The monthly Birthday Day was held at the Drop In Centre on Jan. 15 in spite of the cold temperatures (a high of 23). There were five people celebrating birthdays out of the 17 who came. Wendy Lelond called the Bingo and prizes were given out. Trudy Watters read out a story called "Left - Right" with parcels being passed about. Cake and coffee followed with visiting.

An art class started on Friday, January 17 at the Drop In with seven ladies taking part. Marilyn Schick from Isabella taught the class.

It was another busy weekend at the rink with very high winds, cold temperatures, plus some snow.

A 6&U Tournament was held at the Miniota Rink, Jan. 18 with five teams taking part. They were, Hamiota, Birtle, Strathclair, Shoal Lake and Miniota.

A Mixed Bon-Spiel was also held starting Friday night with twelve rinks entering. Don Armitage’s rink – 1st, Joan Gurr - 2nd, Dennis Carter - 3rd and Bob Gardham - 4th. This could not happen without all the very dedicated volunteers who provided a great variety of desserts plus other food.
