Faye Campbell attended the Brandon Retired Teachers meeting at Rotary Villas in Brandon on Sept. 12. A delicious lunch was served followed by Brandon Ukelele band (12 retirees), playing and singing old-time tunes.

On Sunday, Sept. 15, Faye Campbell attended the retirement of Pastor Gary Jennings from Calvary Temple, Brandon. Previously (30 years ago), he had served as Youth Pastor in Thompson where Faye once lived; so there were a number of Thompsonites at the retirement celebration.

At the monthly Senior Birthday Party, 31 people celebrated September birthdays at the Miniota Drop-In on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18. A fashion show from Castaway Junction (owner Deanna Rowan), with Lynne Cornish on piano, was enjoyed by all. Barry Cornish showed his daughter's beautiful dog and read two poems about dogs. Then we sang many old-time songs. We also had a contest to guess song titles while Lynne played the tunes on the piano.

Jenny Kuemper visited and reported from the Birtle and Miniota Community Development Corporation. They are hosting an information evening for the Manitoba 150 Celebration application in Birtle on Wednesday and in Miniota, in council chambers on Thursday evening, Sept. 26.
