The Melita Legion Ladies Auxiliary held a very successful Tea & Bake Sale on Friday, November 8, 2019, to celebrate their 80th Anniversary. We received an 80th Anniversary Certificate from Provincial Council.
The anniversary cake, decorated by Irene Mason, was cut by our longstanding member, Evelyn Coleman. Evelyn received her 60 year medal in 2014. We were very pleased to present Beth Anderson her 50 year medal at this Tea. Both of these ladies are an inspiration to all the ladies of our Auxiliary.
The local Air Cadet Squadron #263 was on hand to pour tea and coffee, serve cake and carry supplies. They also stayed for clean up! The Cadets visited with the patrons of the Tea and received applause when introduced. Many favourable remarks were said about the Cadets and their service to the Auxiliary. The cadets who worked were: Keegan Judd AC, Riley Whittome AC, Linkn Jacobson FCpl, Emily Jones Sgt, Ethan Klyne Sgt, Kyler Horrigan FSgt, and Gabriel Hume FSgt. They were accompanied by volunteer Stephanie Jones.
After the lunch there were several door prizes awarded: Slipper socks were won by Vi Carr, Poppy bag by Irene Mason, elf decoration by Lois Carr and reindeer decoration by Darwin Slack. The decorations were donated by Susan Renwick. There were three grocery hampers and they were won by Denise Holden, Evelyn McJannet and Vi Carr.
It was a good day and the Ladies Auxiliary appreciate the patronage of all those who support us.
