What would you do if you had to fit all your thoughts and feelings about Canada into a 12-inch square two-dimensional space?

That was the challenge Arts Mosaic delivered to artists several months ago - any medium, any style, as long as it doesn’t exceed 144 square inches.

Ninety artists from Winnipeg to Regina and Virden to Ohio answered the call. Their entries are now on display at the CP Station Gallery and the collection is diverse, dynamic, and stunning.

The pieces include oil paintings, photographs, crochet, origami, needlepoint, wood carving, and even Scrabble letters. Manager Christa Milne says the youngest artist represented is under ten and the oldest is over 80.

Art to be auctioned

Over the next four weeks, visitors can come to the gallery and bid on their favorite pieces. The artists were asked not to sign their work so the auction will be completely anonymous.

The art auction is a fundraiser with half of the proceeds going to Arts Mosaic and half to the artists.

On the evening of November 27, bidding will wrap up and all the pieces will be handed over to the winning bidders at a wine and cheese reception.

With a starting bid of $10 minimum, purchasing original art could finally be affordable.
