The country celebrity and star will make his debut at the Virden Aud Theatre Thursday October 15, at 8:00 p.m., presented by 101.1 the Farm.

Ray Walker, stated in an email interview, “His agent was looking for a town to play [in] and we were lucky enough to have a night free at the Aud.”

Forty-five-year-old, Fox Brook, Pictou County, Nova Scotia-native, George Canyon was a runner-up on Nashville Star 2 in 2004. After the show Canyon had a top five hit, “My Name”, a Juno Award for Best County Recording of the Year, from the album One Good Friend. Soon after he also received four Canadian Country Music Awards Nominations, including Male Vocalist of the Year and the Fan Choice Award.

Canyon proved to be a double threat, picking up an acting career in 2007. Canyon put his skills to the test when he was cast as Head Forest Ranger on a popular show Trailer Park Boys.

In 2010 Canyon appeared in the show Heartland as Charlie Wells. Canyon also proudly has one movie under his belt, a remake of a 1935 film Dawn Rider.

George Canyon comes to Virden on the Western Canadian Tour. Walker stated, “George has never played [in] Virden before. The reputation of the [Aud] and its perfect acoustics [are] a great fit for Canada’s favourite male country artist. We are extremely lucky to have such an amazing performer stop in our community.”
