Many talents used in one piece of art

Fabric art is painting onto fabric instead of onto a canvass. The painting’s details are then embellished with a variety of needle felting, beading, embroidery, and machine quilting. The final product is a beautiful, colourful 3D image; that just begs to be touched.

Moffitt uses fabric art to make felt soaps to exfoliate skin, shawl or neck scarf pins, art cards, and large and small wall paintings.

Inspiration for Moffitt’s art comes from images online, calendar photos, and photos that she or her friends have taken.

Moffitt’s art has been displayed at the art gallery in Hamiota, twice at Arts Mosaic in Virden, and at numerous Art Club shows. The last two years her pieces were chosen as part of 20 pieces picked to be in the Arts West Travelling Gallery; which travels to many different towns throughout the western region.

In 2016, her piece “Mountain Meadows” was shown in the Arts West Travelling Gallery, and at the Rural and Northern Art Show in Winnipeg. Most recently in 2017 “Lost Landmarks” (a needle felted painting, embellished with beads, embroidery, and stitching) was chosen for this year’s Arts West Travelling Gallery.

Moffitt’s work will be displayed and for sale at the Arts Mosaic in July, and at the Oak Lake Beach Art Walk on Aug. 6. Commissions are always welcome. Moffitt can be contacted at (204) 855-2484 during the day.
