The RCMP Musical Ride made its way back to Virden for the first time since 1978.

A crowd of about 1,500 people of all ages filled the bleachers and lawn chairs at the Virden Agricultural Fair Grounds, Thursday, July 14.

Virden Community Chamber of Commerce Manager, Amanda Isaac said, “The Musical Ride far exceeded my expectations. The weather was perfect, the turnout was unbelievable and the event itself was fantastic!”

The gates to the Fair Grounds open at 4:00 p.m. for everyone to come and enjoy the beautiful weather and of course entertainment for the kids; bouncy castle, and face painting.

The live entertainment filled the fairgrounds with excitement as Kendra Kay and her band played for almost an hour. “It was so awesome to get to play in front of so many familiar faces!” Kay said, “The local support I have is amazing and to get to play a show for everyone was a great feeling!”

After Kendra Kay and her band left the stage it was time for the main event; the Musical Ride. With a salute from the guest of honour, Terry McLean alongside Superintendant, Paulette Friel the Musical Ride was under way, lasting just over the half hour mark.

The riders and horses did a well polished routine.

Isaac said, “The highlight for me was seeing the event such a success. After many months of hard work, it was great to see everything come together and the show of support from the community and others who attended and enjoyed the event.”
