Music is a medium in which time can stand still, unexplainable thoughts and ideas can be understood, generational boundaries erased… all through the power of melody. This Saturday evening, the Virden Auditorium Theatre will be hosting a dynamic duo Roy & Rosemary.

Rosemary Siemens is no stranger to Manitoba. Her hometown of Plum Coulee unveiled a sign in her honour reading, “Plum Coulee, Home of Rosemary Siemens.”

It inspired her to write, record and launch her debut bluegrass album entitled, Plum Coulee, My Home featuring Rosemary & The Sweet Sound Revival, which was released this past fall.

“Through this album, I have shared my stories and I hope that you will get a glimpse of who I am and the faith that I hold in my heart.”

Siemens received the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal for her significant contribution to the arts in Canada.

The duo, Roy & Rosemary, are known for their versatility, passion, musicianship, and style. The duo consists of Siemens on violin and pianist Roy Tan. They came together as a musical force while touring as accompanists with the Canadian Tenors.

Their experience is extensive, and crosses numerous genres. The group has performed at the world renowned Carnegie Hall in New York. They were the first ever instrumentalists to perform at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. Their resume also will show a performance at the Egyptian Consulate in Washington DC as well as countless private events. They have also been on what some could call the greatest world stage when they performed at both the 2008 Beijing and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

The event Saturday will certainly be a crowd pleaser here in Virden.
