Kayliegh Penner of Oak Lake, daughter of Tim and Karyn Penner is showcasing her art work at the Arts Mosaic Gallery for the month of August.

Penner graduated from Virden Collegiate Institute in 2013, soon after attended Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba, Sheridan College in Oakville, ON, and is currently going into her third year at Brandon University.

Penner is working on her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and History. Penner is displaying portraits and still life which are done in graphite, watercolour, ink or a combination.

“I suppose I’ve always been involved in art; particularly if one thinks of art in the broadest sense of the term. Insofar as making fine art such as what I’m displaying now, I think I started seriously investing time into it when I started taking art class in high school.” Penner continued, “I recently unearthed my first foray into realism and portraiture, and it was dated 2012. I’ve been pursuing and bettering my abilities in art for around five years.” Penner enjoys many aspects of art, but her favourite part is the lack of expectation or certainty, “Nothing ever turns out how I expect it to, but that’s sometimes fantastic. It’s also terrible, but that’s just life, isn’t it?

Working on art has definitely helped me learn to let go of disappointment, and to move on to the next challenge.”

Join the Arts Mosaic in celebrating the talented Kayleigh Penner, Friday, August 5 at a come and go reception at the CPR Heritage Centre.
