Theo Fleury & the Death Valley Rebels will be at the Aud Theatre on May 26.This will be the first visit for the band to Virden. However, Fleury says he has been to Virden loads of times, but it has been awhile since he has visited. “I used to play a lot of minor hockey there and my Dad played a lot of hockey there when he was growing up. It’s a great town with even better people,” says Fleury.

The band is excited to play new venues and towns, and they say they always come away with new friends and stories. The band loves playing in the heart towns of Canada. They say they are very excited and honoured to play in Virden, and hope everyone enjoys the experience.

A man of many talents, Theo Fleury is an NHL legend and Stanley Cup winner, Olympic gold medalist, two time best-selling author of Playing with Fire & with a Rattlesnake, motivational speaker, healing motivator, and now a Country singer-songwriter. Fleury has vast life experience and knowledge which contributes to his songwriting. His latest album, I Am Who I Am, was released last October on eOne Music Canada. Fleury’s contributions to the mental health of Canadians led to him receiving an honorary doctorate in Science from the University of Guelph-Humber in 2014. Contributions include combating child sexual abuse and his efforts to promote healing and recovery, were recognized with an honorary doctorate in Laws from Brandon University.

In 2009 he and Winnipeg musician, Phil Deschambault, wrote a song about Fleury’s life. After a few years of writing songs, Fleury’s friend, Paddy McCallion, assembled his backing band, The Death Valley Rebels for future shows; and produced the autobiographical I Am Who I Am.

All proceeds from the show will benefit Children & Youth programming for Recreation and the Arts in SW Manitoba.
