Disturbing incident leaves dog fatally injured near Selkirk

Selkirk RCMP arrests a man for mischief and harming an animal.

On March 21, at approximately 5:50 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of mischief at a rural residence in the RM of St. Clements. It was reported a male was in possession of an axe and was smashing the windows of a residence and two parked vehicles.

While officers were en route, they were advised that the male had left the scene and returned to his own residence.

Officers located the male suspect outside his residence beside a shed engulfed in flames. He was arrested without incident.

Further investigation also determined the male fatally injured his dog.

Cameron Parke, 29, from the RM of St. Clements has been charged with Injure or Endanger Animal, Mischief Over $5000 and Arson. He was remanded into custody.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
