On Monday morning, March 27, at approximately 10:10 am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a male leaning out a window of the Lord Selkirk Hotel in Selkirk with a long gun.

Officers attended immediately and contained the area, blocking streets, clearing the hotel, and having adjacent businesses hold and secure. The RCMP also put out a public notice to avoid the area near the Lord Selkirk Hotel, on Manitoba Street and Eveline Street in Selkirk.

The suspect made his way to the roof of the building. Officers were able to make contact with him and the incident resolved peacefully. The man, 32, came down from the roof and was arrested without incident. A search of his room at the hotel resulted in officers seizing a long barrel pellet gun.

RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the incident. Nobody was physically injured.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
