Arts Mosaic office, gallery and market is contained within Virden's Historic Centre on 425, 6th Ave. S.

The Arts Mosaic board of directors has temporarily closed the arts center. In April, the Arts Mosaic gallery was open on reduced hours to allow viewing of Virden Music & Arts Festival entries that were displayed and judged in the gallery.

The Arts Mosaic portion of the CP Historic Centre is closed entirely at present, but for a good reason says Joanna Watt, chairperson for Arts Mosaic Inc. Board of Directors.

She’s not telling much just yet, but hints that change is in the wind to afford more accessibility for the public.

“Hours have been an issue for people,” said Watt. “Working people can't make it….” She says that It’s important for the CP Historic Centre to be a child friendly public space.

The board is armed with new ideas that they hope will improve the interaction with the public.

“We're a board that's got a lot of ideas. And we're kind of excited to work through those and put together something better for the community.” She said, “All of us on the board are really excited to provide the community with a space that's creative.”

As an artist and art therapist (Pipestone Art Therapy), Watt knows that creativity is catching. She says that is the purpose of Arts Mosaic, to help people learn and to express their own creativity – “to showcase the creativity of the people in our community.”

Watt says, “We're not disappearing, we’re hunkering down, taking care of a few things and we're coming out even better. We are currently deep cleaning the Station, finding new vendors for the Mosaic Market.”

She says to expect Arts Mosaic to re-open in early June.
