Due to client demand and growth opportunities, Canadian Plains Energy Services LP has opened up a new location in Virden. It is located off Commonwealth Drive next to the Manitoba Hydro building. The company offers general oilfield maintenance, fabrication, pipeline and facility construction.

Although it has a new name, the personnel are all familiar faces to Virden and area. The Operations Manager is Wes Meredith. He has 25 years of oilfield experience. He will be starting out with 15-20 local employees with the intentions to grow fairly quickly and increase to 45-50 employees in the very near future. The company will be actively recruiting for qualified people in the area.

Canadian Plains Energy started out in January 2017 with locations in Regina and Carlyle. They now employ approximately 80 people. With the workload growing every day, the company anticipates to hit 140-160 employees in the next month or two.

Dale Ziegler, President of Canadian Plains Energy says, "Most of our current employees came from the legacy company, Carson Energy. We believe we had a good model for customer service, doing quality work and looking after our valued employees at Carson Energy. Our goal is to go back to our roots and copy that model.”
