Update - RCMP Major Crime Services and Manitoba First Nations Police Service investigating suspicious death

RCMP Major Crime Services and Manitoba First Nations Police Service continue to investigate the death of a 36-year-old man from Canupawakpa Dakota Nation. The death has now been determined a homicide.

Mathew Brown was found dead at a residence Canupawakpa Dakota Nation on July 9, at approximately 9:20 a.m. when Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers attended to a complaint of an assault in the community.

When officers arrived on scene, a 36-year-old male from Canupawakpa was located deceased inside the residence. The death was immediately considered suspicious.

RCMP Major Crime Services has taken carriage of the investigation and continues to be assisted by the Manitoba First Nations Police Service in the ongoing investigation.
