Case of missing woman resolved

During the week of May 30 to June 5, the Westman RCMP dealt with 80 police activities and attended the following locations:
May 30 – Highway 1 in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth for a report of an adult female who appeared to be in distress. Police database queries showed she had been reported missing from British Columbia. She was transported to hospital for further assistance.
June 1 – RCMP received a report of a vehicle swerving on Highway 83 heading north towards Virden. The vehicle was located partially parked on the sidewalk at the Virden Hospital. The vehicle’s driver was located sleeping inside the hospital. The driver showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. He was read the breath demand and transported back to the Virden detachment where he refused to provide samples of his breath. A 60-year-old male has been charged with Impaired Operation of a conveyance, and for failing to comply with a breath demand. His driver’s licence has been suspended for three months, and the vehicle has been impounded for 60 days.
June 2 – Elkhorn for a report of a Break and Enter that occurred at the Gospel Fellowship Church. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information pertaining to this crime is encouraged to contact the Virden RCMP. An anonymous tip can be submitted via Crime Stoppers.
June 3 – a business in Oak Lake for a report of shoplifting. Candy and alcohol were amongst the items that were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
June 3 – Sioux Valley for a report that a 54-year-old male who had been sprayed with bear mace. Subsequent to investigation, a 27-year-old male suspect was identified. Attempts are being made to locate the suspect. The victim and suspect are known to each other.
June 3 – Sioux Valley for a report of an unknown male lying in a field. The male was located and transported to the Virden Hospital for assessment as he felt like his fingernails were falling off, and he felt like he was being struck by lightning. A short while later, he became agitated and aggressive towards hospital staff. He was subsequently transported to the Virden Detachment and released the following morning when sober. Drugs are believed to be a factor.
June 4 – Sioux Valley for a call from an intoxicated male reporting he wasn’t being let back into his own party. The RCMP members were tied up with several unrelated occurrences that took precedence and were unable to immediately attend. No further calls were received.
June 4 – Sioux Valley for a report of an assault. Subsequent to investigation, a 44-year-old male was arrested for assault. He was released on a future Court date on the condition that he have no contact or communication with the victim.
June 5 - Sioux Valley for a report of an intoxicated male who was threatening and assaulting multiple people. While police were speaking with the male, an intoxicated female showed up on scene and slapped him across the face. That female was immediately arrested for assault. She was released on a future Court date on the condition that she not have any contact or communication with the victim.
Westman RCMP also responded to three false alarms, and three 911 calls that were determined to not be an emergency; 35 traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
