In her first season with the female U15 AAA Yellowhead Chiefs, Oak Lake’s Courtney Cochrane is making an impression.

The blueliner was recently the U15 AAA Manitoba Female Hockey League’s Player of the Week. As of Monday, Cochrane had scored three goals and recorded two assists.

“She is a beautiful skater, who carries herself on the ice with confidence,” head coach Tori Eilers said. “Court is a core player on the blueline for us. She helps create great offence - by scoring and assisting on numerous goals this season. I can trust her to clean up house in our own zone and lead an effective breakout from our own zone.”

Eilers said that Cochrane had a strong showing at both the U15 and U18 Chiefs’ camps. The head coach said that made “the decision to offer a blue and yellow jersey easy.”

“Cochrane is a talented player that we are lucky to have,” Eilers said. “She is going to have a great career with the Chiefs. She's a fun and personable kid that's a pleasure to be around. I look forward to being her coach this year.”
