Community volunteers bring Lenore spiel back to life

The bonspiel has always been a highlight of winter in the little community of Lenore.

Lenore held its four-day bonspiel on Feb. 3-6. “This year we were down on rinks, but definitely not down on spirit!” says organizer Mike Draper.

It takes a team of volunteers to organize a bonspiel and prepare the curling ice ahead and throughout the spiel.

Draper noted that generous sponsors donated either prizes or money. “Their continued support has allowed us to put on another successful bonspiel,” he says.

The Community Hall was a lively place, serving meals to curlers and non-curlers.

“Lastly, and thank you just doesn’t seem enough, the ladies that organized, cooked and served the meals - amazing job done once again, as each meal was served to well over 100 people each night. That alone shows how delicious the meals are, drawing in such a crowd from surrounding areas. Well done to everyone, and see you next year!”
