Guns and ammo were found after midnight in a vehicle with two adults and four children.
On May 21, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Dauphin RCMP on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Main Street South, in Dauphin.
Two adults and four children were inside the vehicle. During the stop an officer observed a firearm and immediately placed the two adults under arrest.
Officers searched the vehicle and two loaded firearms were seized.
A 32-year-old woman from Ste. Rose du Lac is facing charges of:
- Possession of Firearm with tampered serial number
- Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
- Unsafe Storage of Firearms
- Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without a licence
The woman was also issued three fines under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving without a Licence, Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle and Carry Liquor in Vehicle Contrary to the Act. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
A 24-year-old man from the RM of Ethelbert has been charged with:
- Possession of Firearm with tampered serial number
- Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
- Unsafe Storage of Firearms
- Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without a licence
He was also issued two fines under the Highway Traffic Act for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle and Carry Liquor in Vehicle Contrary to the Act. He was remanded into custody.
The children were taken to a safe environment.
