Meth found in Reston residence

For the week of Jan. 2nd to Jan. 8th, the Westman RCMP dealt with 44 police occurrences.

Jan. 3 – RCMP responded to a report of a domestic assault in Oak Lake. Subsequent to investigation, a 62-year-old male was arrested for assault. He was released with a future Court date on the condition that he have no contact or communication with the victim.

Jan. 3 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for an assault involving weapons. When police attended, a 33-year-old female was located inside the residence with a head injury. EMS were called and transported her to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 5 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for an assault involving brass knuckles. When police attended, a 34-year-old male was located with several lacerations on his face and a possible concussion. EMS was called and transported him to the hospital. Injuries were not life threatening; investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 6 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for threats made with a fork. Police attended and de-escalated the situation. The people involved were all family and declined any further action.

Jan. 7 – RCMP conducted a search of a residence in Reston. The search yielded approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine. A 24-year-old male was arrested and remanded into custody for possession for the purpose of trafficking, and failing to comply with a release order x 5.

 

For the week of Jan. 9 to Jan. 15, the Westman RCMP dealt with 56 police occurrences.

Jan. 9 – RCMP initiated a traffic stop in Virden as checks showed the vehicle did not have a valid registration. While speaking with the vehicle driver, the officer observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The three vehicle occupants were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. Subsequent to a search incident to arrest, approximately 30 grams of crystal meth was seized by police. A 34 year old male was remanded into custody for drug trafficking charges, as well as failing to comply with his release order x 4. A 40 year old male, and a 21 year old female were also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. They were released with a future Court date.

Jan. 13 – RCMP were called to Elkhorn for a Break and Enter to a business. Police attended and learned that the suspects cut the power to the building prior to entering and stealing cash and cigarettes. A vehicle described as a red hatchback was seen in the area without it’s headlights on. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information pertaining to this crime is encouraged to contact the Virden RCMP. An anonymous tip can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

January 13 – While conducting patrols in Virden, police observed a vehicle proceed in front of the police vehicle when not safe to do so. A roadside stop was subsequently initiated. The vehicle driver provided a breath sample that resulted in a “WARN”. The driver was issued a $400.00 fine, and a 72 hour suspension on their drivers licence. The vehicle was impounded for 3 days.

January 13 – RCMP were called to a domestic assault in Sioux Valley. Subsequent to investigation, a 58-year-old male was arrested for assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, and uttering threats against a person.  He was taken into custody, and released by a Justice with a future Court date, and conditions which include no contact with the victim. The victim did not require any medical attention.

Six Mischief related calls

Two Fraud calls

Two sexual assaults

Nine other traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
