Princess Lodge By Janice Simpson

Sympathy is extended to Dorothy Dower’s family in the passing of Dorothy. I will miss her. She was right across the hall from me.

Ed and Laura from Kenosee Lake, Sask. visited mother Irene Magotiaux and went out for dinner.

Dyea Measor spent the night with Grandma Opper.

Correction: Last week I reported a big bouquet to the kind person from the lodge who is helping residents across the icy streets… It should have been a big bouquet to the kind folk who help seniors across icy streets. Your kindness is much appreciated.

Family by Leon Baird

Where love is everything, and yours is so well known....

That through anything that life can bring, You never feel alone.

Here, hopes and dreams are always on the rise,

When you're with family, you're helped to see life through loving eyes.

Family Day is on Monday, Feb. 21. It is called Family Day in most of Canada, but in Manitoba it is called Loius Riel Day. So, what do we do on this day? It gives you a chance to enjoy time with your family, take a short winter break, or take part in outdoor sport events. Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved the rest of your life. We have a little plaque that says, "Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts." True?

Just one sentence about Loius Riel. He is called the Father of Manitoba. He said, "I know that through the grace of God I am the founder of Manitoba."

Did you do something special for your valentine on Valentine's Day?  The residents here at Evergreen were my valentines. I baked a lemon/poppyseed Valentine cake for them. Another resident brought a delicious, special dessert called Monkey Bread. Strange name but did we ever enjoy it! So, we had an unplanned Valentine party right here at Evergreen at afternoon Coffeetime, which was fun. No one volunteered being in a picture for the paper though. These pictures will have to do!

Let's all spend Family Day with meaningful connections with our family members, this weekend.

Quote for the Day: "Family - Where life begins and love never ends."  Happy Family Day!

Miniota News By Linda Clark

Our thoughts and best wishes for the return of good health are with Mary Hurlin who is a patient in the Virden Hospital.  Bill Hurlin from San Antonio Texas was here to visit with his mum for a few days.

Our Miniota rink will be a busy spot this Saturday for the annual hockey day – a chance to see our youth play our national sport!  Come on down for a burger and a visit plus some great entertainment. A chance for grandparents to catch up with all our Miniota teams.

If you have news be sure to let me (Linda) know.

A quote for this week: ‘There is no greater wealth in this world than peace of mind.”
