HEADLINES! Sneak peek at Newsies Jr.

Don’t miss this show in the Aud Theatre this week – May 4 -6.

Newsies Jr. is an engaging show brought to the stage by Virden Collegiate student actors and even Principal Mark Keown gets a role!

Director Luke Munchinsky and his company of assistants, plus an all-in cast make this show look like nothing but fun, although they’ve spent months preparing.

At dawn on a summer morning in 1899, newsies – the boys and girls of New York who peddle newspapers to customers throughout the city – chaotically shout the daily headlines. But all is not well as a newspaper tycoon conspires to raise costs for the newsies. Kids living on the edge are in trouble.

A strike, Pulitzer company’s news censorship, heartless police, a hero who doesn’t want to be, some beautiful clever young women, snappy musical numbers and the triumph of truth – it’s all there and it’s a must see!

Scenes flow seamlessly with ingenious set changes amid the emotions of angst, humor and loyalty.

There are two matinees (Friday and Saturday) and two evening shows (Thursday and Friday). Tickets are available at Andrew Agencies Virden or at the door.
