(First published by Oak Lake News during the playoffs between the Edmonton Oilers and the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights have eliminated the Oilers and are contending against the Dallas Stars with hopes of making Stanley Cup finals.)

It is with great pride and anticipation we await game one, round two of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers tonight!

Zach started his hockey journey in the backyard rink in Brandon, to the Oak Lake arena, to the Brandon Youth Hockey program, a brief stint with the Portage Terriers, to the Oil Capitals of Virden, to the Bemidji State Beavers of Minnesota, to the Chicago Wolves of Chicago, Illinois and to the current Vegas Golden Knights, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

With the roads Zach has traveled he has gained a following of fans. Being of Aboriginal decent he has touched many First Nations communities in North America along the way!!    There are many young hockey players that aspire to have success like Zach!

Zach is a role model for young and old! Zach also has a large following of non-Aboriginal family, friends and fans.

Zach had lifted our community spirit with nervous anticipation of what could be.

We, the Whitecloud and Cullen families, are very proud of Zach’s accomplishments and especially the way he carries himself off the ice!
