The launch of the National Human Trafficking Education Centre takes place Thursday evening, Oct. 28, 2021. Sheldon Kennedy and other guests will be included in this celebratory evening program.
Smith says, “This event is for everyone who believes they can make change happen. Our celebration will feature many special guests including survivors, police officers, community leaders and some of Canada’s favourite music artists, all linking arms to deliver empowering messages from across the nation.”
Joy Smith, founder of the Joy Smith Foundation, and Janet Campbell, President and CEO, will share their vision on how each of us has the power to make meaningful change through awareness, working together and some practical steps to support young people in our communities.
The more we know and understand about human trafficking, the more we can do to stop it.
Education is the greatest weapon in preventing young women and young men from falling through the cracks, from becoming captives to others who use and abuse them. Smith believes that everyone plays a role in stopping the tragedy of human trafficking in communities across Canada.
