Police ask for tips regarding vandalism to van at Sioux Valley’s Health Centre

For the week of March 13 - 19, Westman RCMP dealt with 51 police occurrences.

March 13 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for a call of threats. A 41-year-old female reported that she was told to “be careful at the end of the day.” No arrests were made as a result of this incident.

March 14 – RCMP received a report of a historical assault that occurred in Sioux Valley. RCMP continue to investigate.

March 14 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for a vandalism. It was reported that four tires for the van at the Health Centre were punctured. Anyone with any information pertaining to this crime is encouraged to contact the Virden RCMP. An anonymous tip can also be submitted via Crime Stoppers.

March 14 – RCMP responded to a report of a dangerous driver on Highway 1 in the RM of Sifton.  It was reported that the vehicle passed two vehicles at the same time, using the shoulder of the highway. The vehicle was located by Westman Traffic Services who issued the driver a $672 ticket for dangerous driving.

March 15 – RCMP received a call of a person carrying a machete in Virden. RCMP responded, and later determined that there was no person carrying a machete. The call stemmed from a false post on Facebook.

March 15 – RCMP responded to mischief in Melita. It was reported that a mirror was broken off of a vehicle. The investigation continues.

March 16 – RCMP received a report of a Fraud that occurred in the RM of Two Borders. The victim sent approximately $6,000 in Apple and Steam gift cards. These types of scams are very common and usually from out of country. If you believe you may be in the process of being defrauded, we are always happy to answer questions you may have to prevent this from occurring.

March 17 – RCMP were called to an assault in Sioux Valley. The 22-year-old victim sustained several injuries to her face and head. Three suspects were identified, two of which have been arrested. Police are still attempting to locate the third suspect.

 

RCMP also responded to the following:

  • Two False Alarms
  • Three disturbance calls
  • Two calls under the Mental Health ACT
  • Five traffic collisions

Seven traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
