Measuring the moisture

Westman has gotten used to a slim skiff of snow in recent winters, but this year is different.
12 - Snow
Manitoba Infrastructure plow operators team up Tuesday afternoon clearing accumulated snow from the median along the TransCanada Highway through Virden, improving visibility for morotists.

According to the accumulated precipitation map from Manitoba Agriculture, the southwest corner of Manitoba has received around 40 mm of water equivalent precipitation since last November. Given our average temperature during snow events, this could amount to the equivalent of four feet of snow. This sounds like a lot until you consider that a couple of summer thunderstorms could exceed that 40 mm of actual water.
