Marilyn Kinnear returned home to Red Deer on April 12, after visiting Joyce Heaman; Norma Miller was over on Saturday for a visit too.

Sally and Delbert Bowles of Elkhorn spent time with Ethel Bowles on Friday, April 22. Our sympathy to Ethel Bowles and family from the residents, on the passing of her daughter, Donna Everett.

Residents with April birthdays: Shirley Lansing, Bernice Graham and Ray Rainey. The birthday party will be April 26 with myself, Janice Simpson, being hostess.

I spent Good Friday with Wayne and Lori Stuart and family. I had a visit and supper with Troy and Catherine Stuart on Sunday.

Evergreen Place By Helen Martens

Hello to everyone. Are you tired of the snow? This last snowstorm did it for us all, I think, what with closed highways and power outages. We welcome the sun these last days. It warms me up as it shines through my living room window. The sun will take care of some of the fresh snow. Maybe we are ready for a change, like six days of rain starting this Thursday?

We've just had Earth Day, which is a reminder to care for one another and the world around us. The moisture we've been getting will help to renew, which Spring does anyway. A suggestion has been to go plant a tree somewhere if you can. Thomas Fuller says, "He who plants trees, loves others besides himself." An interesting quote. Thinking of trees, I can't wait to enjoy being among the tall trees at the Lions Campground. So, hold on, warmer days are ahead!

It's very quiet here at Evergreen. But I have a bit of news.

Keith Nash of Kenora, Ont. is a nephew of Sandra Nash, a resident here. Keith stopped in to visit his Aunt Sandra this last Wednesday, April 20.

On Friday, the 22nd of April, Irene Rowand, and her family and friends had a birthday supper at Virden Well View restaurant for Irene's daughter Donna. Family groups are now able to go to the restaurant there for group celebrations. I have enjoyed a few meals there since they opened earlier.

Irene Rowand went to the Come and Go Tea at the Legion on Saturday, April 9, in honor of Dr. Michael Fitzgerald, on his retirement.

A good thought for us all, a Russian Proverb that says, "A kind word is like a Spring day."

Quote for the Day (especially those that walk these days): Spring is when you feel like whistling, even with a shoe full of slush." - Doug Larson
