On March 16, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Powerview RCMP responded to an assault at a residence located on Tipi Road, on Sagkeeng First Nation.
A 38-year-old male from Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested on scene and retained in police custody.
Powerview RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
On March 17, 2023, Matthew Schacht, 38, of Sagkeeng First Nation, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in the homicide of a 42-year-old male on March 16, 2023. He was remanded into custody.
