Dale Hill froze his fingers last winter. He spent months in the Melita hospital recovering from a partial amputation of fingers on his right hand. Hill is living at the Sherwood now. He paid a short visit to Evergreen Place and the residents were glad to see him smiling and well.

Princess Lodge By Janice Simpson

Alexa Scott, her friend Matthew Laxton, and her parents Malcom and Judy Scott visited at the Princess Lodge lounge Saturday, April 2. Several residents came out to meet and greet her.

She chatted individually with each one and shared interesting accounts of her time participating in the 2022 Olympics.

She did well in the women’s 1000 metres long track speed skating event. Congratulations Alexa.

Friday, April 1, Janice and her son Wayne Simpson went over to Kenton to help her brother Terry Curtis celebrate his 75th birthday surprise party.

Hello! "May your day begin with a smile on your face, a song in your heart and joy in your soul."  --   Koffee Addict

This paper comes on Friday, April 8. Someone, some time ago, decided to call April 8 "National All is Ours Day."  I read, and I quote, there are three views of appreciation of this day: 1) Reflect on all the beauty of nature and all good things in life. Explore what nature has to offer us today. 2) Appreciate all you have, even if it isn't much. Avoid thinking about the things you don't have. 3) View this day by sharing what you have. The greatest time and the greatest things in life are those that ae shared." From the National Day Calendar

Now to Evergreen:

Joyce Braybrook had Fred Demare from Thompson, Man. as her visitor last Monday evening.

The restaurant at Virden Well View Golf Course opened on Friday, April 1, at 8:00 am. I saw Harold and Lynda Spring of Evergreen there, having breakfast with their daughter Candace of Reston. The meals are good as always.

Anne Lodder drove to Shoal Lake this last weekend to visit family members there.

Kim, Rose Higheagle's daughter from North Dakota, was down to be with her mom last weekend.

We have one April birthday in April. Margaret Rollo. The birthstone for April is the Diamond and it holds meaning for the one who wears it. It is thought it provides the wearer with better relationships and an increase in inner strength. It brings other benefits, such as balance, clarity and abundance. It is a symbol of everlasting love.

Vern and Margaret Rollo drove to Miniota on Sunday to visit their son Darcy. Margaret says I can add that she is feeling fine now, and was able to bake bread again the last two Mondays. She does require some help which Vern is ready to give.

Irene Rowand's great-niece, Sheila Marshall of Inglis, was over for a visit a week ago. Yesterday Irene's family honored her with a family supper at the Virden Well View restaurant at the golf course. Most of the family including great-grands attended Irene's 92nd birthday. They filled four tables and everyone enjoyed it greatly, especially Irene.

We were surprised here at Evergreen to have a resident of the past, Dale Hill, come to visit us. He lived here for some years, when he fell outside in -42* weather one early morning. He could not open the door and his fingers were badly frozen. He spent many months in the hospital at Melita, then to Winnipeg to have part of the fingers on his right hand amputated. He is now living at the Sherwood. It was good to see him smiling and happy.

Quote for the Day:  "Rain soaks the earth, prompting growth and preparing flowers of the season. And we find ourselves shedding our winter coats on the first warm Spring day. This is April." - Sharon Leah

Miniota News By Linda Clark

Grandpa Bill Walker and Great Grandparents Larry and Janet Walker are pleased to welcome Quill Stewart Rhett, a son born on March 24 to Melanie and Jarrid Crichton and big brother Asher of Anola. Congratulations to you all!

Deepest sympathy is extended to Renee and Bill Armitage, Neil and Cheryl Stewart, and Shelley and Ron Gardham and their families on the death of their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Hollis Stewart at Sunnyside Manor at Birtle on April 1.

Brian and Candice Armitage and family visited with Lyle and Loni Armitage and family at Calgary over spring break. They also took in skiing at Nakiska.

Don and Sandra Armitage have recently returned from a holiday in Nevada and Utah. Sandra writes of their holiday: “While there, they explored the two states from Las Vegas to St. George, to Salt Lake City, and the Lake Tahoe area in Nevada. Much of Utah was settled by Mormon people and most towns and cities have the Mormon steeples evident. Both states include large expanses of desert, and mountain ranges from the Wasatch mountains in the east to the Sierra Nevadas in the West. Many parks and hiking trails in Red Rock Canyons were enjoyed, as well as some geographical lessons about where the old TV series Bonanza was filmed and where the Pony express and stagecoach trails were.”

A quote for this week - Author unknown.  “Don’t worry about wanting what other people think you should want. Peace in your heart is an achievement. Calm in your mind is an achievement.  Kindness in your actions is an achievement. These are worthy goals.”
