Lights, camera, action! A Very Virden Christmas is dawning over Virden with a preview this very weekend.
With a “Grinch” theme, you will find fun in Virden this Christmas season. Virden’s Memory Tree Light Up is next Thursday Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. That’s the kick-off for a host of Christmas events where Late Thursday Shopping starts, continuing to Dec. 22.
On Nov. 24, an evening library story includes, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. If the weather’s good, enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride that evening!
Nov. 25, warm-up with Plaid Friday deals in Virden businesses.
Then, it’s the Saturday evening Santa Parade through the streets of Virden on Nov. 26. Settle in Sunday morning, Nov. 27, for Pancakes with Santa put on by the 2023 VCI Grad Class. Take your own pictures.
A returning feature is the Christmas decorating contest with prizes worth hundreds of dollars at local businesses. Your yard, or businesses could be a winner, but you have to submit a picture of your work to the website www.veryvirdenchristmas.ca. Go there to vote as well. The contest closes on Dec. 16. Winner or not, your light display will warm our world this December.
There’s much more to come so stay tuned.
