Oil Caps pleased with camp

Looking ahead to next year, Virden Oil Capitals spring camp holds promise for the future.

Some future Virden Oil Capitals hit the ice this past weekend.

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League club held its Comfort Inn & Suites Draft Eligible Spring Camp on April 1-2. It was an opportunity for the organization to get a close look at potential players, including those eligible for this season’s MJHL Draft as well as future editions.

Sixty-four players attended. Most of them were born in 2006, but there were some 2007 and a few 2005 born players as well, Virden head coach and general manager Tyson Ramsey said.

“Camp was excellent,” he said. “The kids worked extremely hard, and all games were very competitive. It gave us some great info for this year's draft class as well as next year's. It was a great weekend, and we were very pleased with the turnout.”
