Pipestone Flooding

“Everything appears to be holding its own, maybe receding a bit,” stated RM of Pipestone Reeve Archie McPherson.

“Due to overland flooding, on the weekend we had 14 roads closed, but we had washouts that have been repaired.”

There have been no human evacuations, as of Tuesday, Apr. 4.

“Some cattle got evacuated along the Pipestone Creek. That happens on an annual basis in the last few years with the amount of flooding we’ve had...since 2014.”

Backhoes have been out clearing bridges and culverts. Two or three truckloads of trees had jammed up at a bridge.

The RM staff was preparing for this week of melt water, cleaning out ditches at culverts to be able to open the drainage.

“We’re a little more prepared every year,” says McPherson.
