Corporal Aaron Bailey reported the Virden detachment was extra busy between Jul. 24 – Aug. 1, with 99 calls for service.
RCMP participated in a large drug bust at Melita, which resulted in the arrest of one man who faces a nine charges including forcible confinement. A female called in, saying she was not allowed to leave a residence and had been assaulted by a male.
RCMP assisted a USA agency with a fraud, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Details of an Internet scam that popped up in Virden were forwarded to the USA. Police warn that if there’s anything suspicious about a call or internet contact, such as people being told they owe money to CRA – that sort of thing, please call the RCMP.
