RCMP Report - August 12, 2016

Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner reported 57 calls for service between August 2 and August 8. One false alarm and 24 traffic tickets occurred during this time frame. August 2 Received a 9-1-1 call regarding yelling coming from a residence.

Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner reported 57 calls for service between August 2 and August 8. One false alarm and 24 traffic tickets occurred during this time frame.

August 2

  • Received a 9-1-1 call regarding yelling coming from a residence. Police spoke to the individual in the residence who advised the person causing the problems had already left.
  • Received a 9-1-1 call that three males were walking on the TransCanada Highway west of Virden. Police found all three males to be very intoxicated and there were concerns about their safety.  All three were arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and transported to Brandon Correctional Center to sober up.
  • RCMP was called to a residence in Virden. The complainant advised that there were people with guns trying to kill him. Police found the complainant to be suffering from a psychotic episode. He was arrested under the Mental Health Act and transported to the hospital.
  • Police were called to a small fire at a business in Virden - the fire department also attended.  The fire was nothing suspicious and minor damage.

August 4

  • Report of a stolen bike from outside a business in Virden.
  • Police received a call of threats from a male to a neighbour. This matter is still under investigation.

August 5

  • False alarm to a business in Kenton. The alarm was cancelled prior to arrival of police.
  • A break and enter was reported to a garage in Virden. Numerous tools were stolen.
  • Police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked outside a residence. Police spoke to the driver who left the area soon after.
  • Police were flagged down in Sioux Valley and advised of a very intoxicated male. RCMP located a passed out male covered in dirt. He was woken up and arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged at Virden detachment to sober up.

August 6

  • Police were called to a residence in Virden for a fight between two brothers. The fight was consensual and both declined to peruse charges.
  • Police were advised of two males driving on the TransCanada Highway while smoking a joint. RCMP attended but did not locate the vehicle.
  • Police attended a residence in Elkhorn to conduct a curfew check the suspect did not present themselves at the door as required by their recognizance and the male has since been charged with failing to comply.

August 7

  • Theft of fuel from a business in Virden. It was determined the guy just forgot to pay for his gas.

August 8

  • Report of a break and enter to a business in Elkhorn. This matter is still under investigation.
  • Police were called to a suspicious male in Virden. Upon dealing with him the male was placed under arrested and started fighting with police he was subdued and arrested under the mental health act and taken to the Virden hospital the police would like to thank the three individuals who assisted the loan police officer in subdued the male.
