RCMP Report - May 15, 2015

Thirty-six calls for service were reported by Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner from May 4 to May 11. These included three false alarms and six traffic tickets. May 4 • Collision between a semi and a moose on the TransCanada Highway in the R.M. of Sifton.

Thirty-six calls for service were reported by Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner from May 4 to May 11.
These included three false alarms and six traffic tickets.

May 4
• Collision between a semi and a moose on the TransCanada Highway in the R.M. of Sifton. No injuries to driver.
• Received a call regarding harassing text messages.
• Call of a single vehicle roll over in R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth. Police attended, fire and ambulance were already on the scene. No injuries, tow truck was called for the vehicle.
• A female in Oak Lake called to advise that her uncle threatened her husband. Police spoke to all parties; peace bond process was explained to them.
• False alarm to a business in Virden

May 6
• False alarm at a business in Virden.

May 7
• Male in Virden complained of threats made against him by another male. Police spoke to the complainant and determined that no direct threats had been made.
• Complaint received from a male in Virden that his stepfather had assaulted him. No criminal charges, however the matter has been referred to CFS.
• Complaint from a male in the R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth that vehicles where driving around on private property, damaging the land. Investigation is ongoing.

May 8
• 911 hang-up call in the R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth. Investigation revealed it was a fax machine.
• Complaint of an erratic driver on the TransCanada Highway in Virden. The vehicle was stopped and given a warning.
• Police were called to an abandoned vehicle fi re in McAuley. Prior to attending, police were called off and advised that the fire was caused by the landowner in error.

May 9
• Complaint of a possible impaired driver on the TransCanada Highway west of Virden. The vehicle was located on the Saskatchewan side. The driver was checked and found that it was a new driver and that the previous driver was over tired and was sleeping.
• Received a call of a structure fi re in the R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth. Police were later advised that it was a grass fire. No injuries.
• Received a report of a vehicle upside down in a ditch with water in the R.M. of Sifton. Members attended; the vehicle was empty. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that evening. Investigation is still ongoing.

May 10
• False alarm to a business in Virden.
• A message was left on the RCMP answering machine advising of a suspicious person. Unfortunately the message was not received until later. Police would like to remind the public that if they require immediate police assistance to call 911.
• Call of a possible impaired driver on the TransCanada Highway in the R.M. of Sifton. Police attended but were unable to locate the vehicle.
• Received a call that a shed at a cottage at Oak Lake Beach had been broken into sometime over the winter. Multiple items had been stolen. No suspects at this time.

May 11
• Complaint of a semi swerving all over the road on the TransCanada Highway near Virden. The complainant thought that the driver may have been texting. Patrol made but unable to locate the semi.
• Complaint of a hit and run to a vehicle while it was parked in Virden. Damage to the rear fender, no suspect or witnesses.
• Complaint of an erratic driver on the TransCanada Highway. Complainant was watching a female driving while talking on her phone. Patrols were made but the vehicle was not located.
