Sandra Cowling's rink just misses Provincial Masters League win

Men's and Ladies' Master’s League Provincial finals included rinks from Hamiota.

Sandra Cowling’s team from Hamiota ran a close second in the finals game in Thompson on March 12, losing 5 – 3 to Laurie Deprez.

The Deprez foursome’s first and only loss came in the round robin to Cowling who was unbeaten with four wins in the five-team round robin. Cowling's perfect record gave her team a bye to the Sunday morning final. The Cowling team, playing in their fourth consecutive Masters final, had won the title in 2019 and 2020.

This was Deprez first win.

In men’s curling, the Randy Neufeld team from La Salle was the 2023 Credit Unions Master Men's Provincial champion team with seven straight wins.

Local curlers playing out of Hamiota curled in the Asham Express 7-game pool of the Masters provincials held March 9-13 in the Burntwood Curling arena in Thompson, Man.

Two other rinks from Hamiota were in the bonspiel. The Lawrence Daniel team won 1 of 7 games and Dale Brooks’ team won 4 of their games.
