Alzheimer walk 2017

On the evening of June 9, a group of a dozen people gathered at Oak Lake Community School to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society. Shannon Kinnaird, an organizer of the Alzheimer Memory Walk in Oak Lake, said they started the walk over 25 years ago. She has fond memories of pulling her, now grown, but then small children in wagons during those first years of the Alzheimer Memory Walk.

After the three to four km walk around the town of Oak Lake, barbequed hot dogs and refreshments were enjoyed by participants. Community support for the event was evident, when a person drove up and passed a cheque through his truck window to an organizer of the event. The small but dedicated group raised over $4,000 this year.
