Stay up-to-date with your community

Editor’s note: Some 40 community groups responded to the library sponsored Community Builders Mixer evening. This letter from the library is to participating groups with an invitation for others to join. The letter is of broad interest.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Community Builders Mixer on Jan. 13. It was a wonderful evening full of information, some great laughs and meeting so many great people. I personally loved hearing how passionate we all are about building our community into an inclusive and engaging place to live, work and play.

It’s taken us a while, but we finally have the information compiled and ready to deliver. Enclosed you will find a report outlining the purposes of initiating the event and a report including all of the information we gathered from the word map posters as well as the profiles with the collaboration section completed (the part that was filled out at the mixer by attendees wanting to work with your organization in some way). We sincerely hope each and every one of you found value in the event and the subsequent information gathered and distributed.

The profiles and the community resources directory binder are available and accessible in the library and on borderregionallibrary.ca under the Community tab for anyone to view. We would like to keep the information there as accurate and up-to-date as possible. If you could please be sure to let us know of any changes as they happen, we will make sure to keep them updated.

We are so excited to see what new partnerships have been forged and what an amazing impact it will have in our community, for our citizens, businesses, service groups and organizations.

Reflection Rumble

With all of that in mind, we would like to invite all of you and your thoughts and ideas about the future of the library to our new Reflection Rumble Series. For 2023, this is a series of quarterly round table discussions being held at the Virden branch of Border Regional Library as an open platform to reach out to our community members with a new set of questions and topics each quarter regarding the future of Border Regional Library and what our community wants the library to be and to become. We want to ensure the library has a continuing and positive impact on our community far into the future. Our first session is Wednesday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m., followed by Thursday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2:30 p.m. Please share this invite with anyone and everyone you are in contact with.

We very much look forward to collaborating with more organizations in the future and are very grateful for all of the support we have received so far with collaborations.

Sincerely,
